Harmony Between Past and Present

Private Club House Designed by Yu Yu Chu

This spatial planning design project is a private club, the narrow and long house form is separated horizontally with the center as the axis, adopting two-way symmetric design; the spatial layout is smooth and eclectic, containing wine tasting area, wine storage area, banquet hall, Tripitaka Library and a small rest area.

The private club house designed by Yu Yu Chu is a stunning example of harmonizing the past and present. With its narrow and long house form, the design takes inspiration from Buddhism classics and oriental-style, creating a unique fusion of vintage and modern elements. The spatial layout of the club house is smooth and eclectic, featuring various areas such as a wine tasting area, wine storage area, banquet hall, Tripitaka Library, and a small rest area.

What sets this design apart is the use of modern geometrically-cut light-belt design, which adds a contemporary touch to the overall aesthetic. The interior design showcases the symbiosis of vintage and modern styles, creating a sophisticated and luxurious spatial atmosphere. The electric mechanism used to enter the club house adds an element of surprise and exclusivity, taking visitors into a hidden paradise.

Passing through a glass wall resembling an antique shelf, visitors are greeted by a flourishing wine tasting area adorned with Champagne Armand de Brignac. The interior design also incorporates elements of a Chinese-style courtyard, with rainbow colors varying on the upper space of the interior. The irregular geometrical ceiling extends to the facades of the space, creating a unique wall surface design. The transparent wine storage shelf adds to the overall aesthetic, making the space resemble a modern cave filled with a unique spatial quality.

The design team, led by Yu Yu Chu, meticulously planned each space to create different atmospheres within the deep and wide area of the private club. The guest-welcoming lobby serves as the hub, connecting to the various atmospheres and reflecting the owner's favored oriental sentiment. Classical oriental elements are fused with modern electric light entertainment, creating a seamless blend of the past and present.

The private club house project was completed in January 2015 in Taipei City, Taiwan. It presented several challenges, including the design of the electric mechanism and the patterned hollow wall that redirects visitors to different atmospheres. The Tripitaka Library, a highlight of the design, features a circular antique shelf displaying the entire set of Chinese Buddhist Canon. The white starlight sprinkling down from the ceiling adds a touch of elegance and nostalgia, reminiscent of royal family times.

The private club house designed by Yu Yu Chu has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
